A Visit To the Nail Salon & Spa
I recently had a really great experience at the nail spa in Tomball, TX close to where I live, and it got me to thinking about the nail salon industry as a whole. Think about it – there’s a salon in practically every strip center in the US. There must be a reason why so many salons exists. As I was relaxing in my spa pedicure chair, having my stress gently massaged away, my mind began to wander, as it tends to do. “Why are salons so prevalent?” There is no shortage of reasons why. Here is what I think about it…
Good for the Body
First and foremost, a visit to the spa/salon is good for the physical body. Salons exist for the purpose of taking care of different parts of the body. Some focus just on nails, but many if not most also provide comprehensive foot care, skin care, massage, facials, teeth whitening, and much more. Even the most basic of salons provide more than just nail painting. A manicure will also include cuticle care, disinfection, hang nail removal, fungus treatment, etc. Beyond that, pedicures include similar care provided for manicures, but also include treatments for calluses, blisters, stress points in the foot and lower leg area, and more. Spa pedicures will include exfoliation, lower leg and foot skin moisturizing, massage and aromatherapy.
Many salons go much further, and include facials, micro-dermabrasion, full body massage, and more. Med-spas run by doctors take the body health aspect even further. So the health of the body is a great reason for a salon visit.
Good for the Mind
Have you ever entered a salon worried, angry or depressed, but by the time you left, you hadn’t a care in the world? Wouldn’t you agree that a visit to the salon was definitely great for your worried mind? Of course it is. The salon is a place for frazzled women to unwind, unload and unplug for an hour. Sometimes that’s all it takes. Your nail technician will quietly let you vent, sympathize with you, and even give you sage advice sometimes. These men and women of the nail salons have heard and seen it all, so if you have a problem, they’ve probably heard it before. They are like bartenders for women. You can release your frustrations out on a sympathetic caring ear, and you’ll feel so much better afterwards.
Good or the Soul
A great salon visit can do wonders for one’s confidence, happiness and energy. A salon visit is good for the soul. Whether you are getting your hair done, your nails done, or having a full body massage, upon leaving, you’ll have a renewed zeal for life, a new confidence, and a greater love for your body. There’s nothing more gratifying to the soul than to have a greater confidence in yourself and your body.
So Much More…
Besides the reasons I mentioned above, there are so many more reasons. Women are pack animals, so being around other women just makes you feel more included, more secure and part of society. Some salons are almost like one big happy family, but only with the positive nurturing elements, no drama that often comes with a family.
Salons are good for the economy. Don’t laugh, it’s true. Your dollars spent in a salon support a salon owner and his/her family, the nail technicians family, the landlord, the salon’s suppliers, etc. You are setting off a positive chain reaction for the economy each time you visit a nail salon.
I could go on, but I just don’t feel like writing a book right now. Just take my word for it and go improve the economy 🙂
