Well, the new year is already flying by! A belated Happy Valentines Day to you all! My husband and I have a very important event coming up on Feb. 21st. It's our 40th wedding anniversary!! Wow - how did we get here so quickly? We praise God for helping and blessing us so much. Our family is expanding with five of our six children gone from home - four of them married with (or expecting) children. The Lord is so good! We continue striving to take good care of ourselves, using as many natural and healthy foods and products as possible. Our children endured carrot juicing - which we still do at times - and getting into whole wheat breads. For many years we have bought wheat to grind ourselves to bake with. It's one of the best things we ever did for our health. We love the fresh bread, rolls, pizza crusts, tortillas, biscuits, cookies, etc. made with whole wheat. Fresh ground flaxseed makes a great addition, too. We use "green foods" powders for a supplement - really pretty tasty. Prevention with natural foods really can help. So, with 40 years down, we look forward to the next 40 - Lord willing!!!! Bye for now.........ECB

It's January again and many of us make those new year resolutions. Sometimes, our goals are just too high - sometimes not high enough. I would like to propose two simple ideas that will carry you throughout the whole year. Life is made of choices - every day! When faced with the many choices concerning us as consumers there are two important ideas that should influence our decision. FIRST: Is this product as NATURAL a choice as I can make? What are its ingredients? Will it be good for me and my health? SECOND: Is this product AMERICAN-MADE ? Does the label say "made in America"? Can I really afford cheaply made foreign items? These two guiding principles can help us make the best choices for our own good and for our country as well. I'm happy to say that Natural Beauty Bath and Body can answer YES to both questions! So, simplify many of your everyday choices by considering these two ideas. You'll be glad you did! Bye for now.........ECB

The Christmas season can become way too busy and pressured producing too much stress. Why do we let it happen? Peer pressure….plain and simple. We convince ourselves that we must do more and buy more, just as the world demands. Stop, take a deep breath….and realize that the wonder and beauty of Christ’s birth can be acknowledged and celebrated on a daily basis without a lot of fanfare. Yes, it’s nice to set aside a special day and celebrate with family and friends – but that can be done without tiring us and our bank accounts completely out. Set your priorities, keep a simple plan, do a little each day, and take time to relax. Relax physically and spiritually. Concentrate on praising God and thanking Him for His blessings. You probably won’t get everything done, but it will be ok! God bless you and Merry Christmas!........ECB

I wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! May the Lord bless you as you travel and gather with loved ones. I am so thankful for our country, our freedom, and all our military worldwide who protect those freedoms. May God help us to live each day for Him and His glory. Bye for now.....ECB

Halloween merchandise has been out for some time and soon Christmas items will take over the marketplace. What happened to Thanksgiving? Refreshingly, it's a holiday season that hard to commercialize. As we gather to thank God for His blessings to our nation and our families, it's also an appropriate time to thank those who serve us on a daily basis. Just think of all the people that regularly bless your life - grocery clerks, policemen, teachers, beauticians, pastors, delivery men, waiters, postmen, janitors, etc. The list goes on and on. Many people work day in and day out without a word of encouragement from anyone. A simple thank you note or small handmade gift is the perfect way to say, "I appreciate you!" Do you like to bake, sew, do crafts, paint, garden or cook? Almost any skill or hobby can be used to give someone a special thank you. If you don't have the time or ability, a small thoughtful purchased item can also be a blessing. Have fun this next month being creative with ways to say "Thank You!" Until next time......ECB

While I love the natural lifestyle, there is one area I really struggle with: my gray hair! My vanity encourages me to keep coloring it, but it is tiring and definitely not natural. Every time I decide to let it go gray, I change my mind. My husband would rather I keep it colored too. He told me I could quit when I turned 60 - coming in a couple of years! Do any of you have some natural hair coloring products that work well? Or I could just let nature take its course as my younger sister did who started turning gray in her late 20's! She colored and colored for years but now just wears it short (modern cut) and natural gray. It looks great on her. Let's hear some suggestions - thanks. Bye until next time. ECB

My memory was correct as to the concoction in the bottle at my Grandpa’s house. It was cedar twigs, cedar berries, and kerosene that was used as a muscle rub and on cuts, scratches, etc. My mother remembers her dad rubbing sore muscles with it, but not using it herself that much. My husband decided to try it using alcohol as we couldn’t get hold of any kerosene. It is pleasant to use and has a great smell. (More testing is necessary before we can report on the effectiveness!) The essential oils in many plants are so beneficial! That’s why we use them in many of our bath and body products. The fragrances are not only pleasant, but the oils themselves are good for our health. Bye for now…… ECB

As I thought about my memories in my last post, my mind drifted to some of the natural remedies we used when I was growing up. Some were very simple, such as making a plaster of baking soda and water to put on a wasp sting or ant bite. My husband’s family would cut an onion in half and apply it to the bite! Both methods do work and we still use them today. (Supposedly a chaw of tobacco is very effective!) At my Grandpa’s home I remember a bottle that was filled with small twigs of cedar and their tiny blue berries, then filled with kerosene. I’m not sure exactly what it was used for – I need to ask my mother (now 90 years old) to get my story straight! The best and most widely used remedy, though, was aloe vera. It is a wonderful plant with many, many uses. My husband and I have been married 39 years and I think we’ve always had some growing either in a pot or bed that was handy to reach. Many of the products on this site contain this versatile ingredient. It's healing qualities take great care of your skin. Until next time…… ECB

Growing up in the country, I was introduced to a natural lifestyle from the beginning. Outdoors, gardening, fishing, gathering eggs, swimming in the creek, and baking from scratch hold great memories for me. My Dad even had milk goats for awhile, but I don't ever remember drinking any goatmilk! I guess their kids got it all. I never thought much (until my adult life) about chemicals in what we ate or used on our bodies. Today I find myself reading labels on anything I don't make myself. That can be a real eye-opener! Sticking to products that are simple and natural can really be a benefit to our health in the long run. Prevention is always nicer than "treating". Bye until next time. ECB

Who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks? Although I have passed the half-century mark, I still don't consider myself "old". However, "old dog" or not, I am learning new things all the time. Take this blog for instance - I've never done it before! My whole venture into internet marketing has been one learning experience after another, many times finding out what Not To Do! I am not new to the Natural scene, though. All my life has been bent toward this way of thinking. Only in the last few years, though, have I realized the importance of and benefit of using natural products on my body as well as eating them, wearing them, building with them, etc. In every part of our lives we can usually say that natural is better, even though it may be more trouble, more work, or more cost. I'll be sharing some of my thoughts on the Natural Lifestyle in future posts. Bye for now. ECB
